Getting Around

By BTS (Skytrain)

From the Amari Watergate Bangkok, BTS Chit Lom station is approximately a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Amari Watergate. Cross Petchburi Road (in front of the Amari Watergate), proceed over the foot bridge with Central World on your right and you will come to the sky walk. Walk to the left (away from Central World) to get to the ticket machines. Walk to the right to get to Siam Paragon (about 10 minutes away).

By Airport Rail Link

From the Amari Watergate Bangkok, take a left out of the hotel, followed by a left at the corner, and walk straight for 10 minutes.

The Airport Rail Link connects directly to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The Express Line starts at the airport and brings you directly to Makkasan (City Air Terminal) in about 15 minutes at a cost of 150 THB.

Trains run every 15 minutes from 6:00 till midnight.

The City Line stops at all stations and at Phaya Thai, you can transfer onto the BTS Skytrain and continue your way.

Taxi

Metered taxis are a comfortable way to get around town - but there are some key things to remember.

Key Things to Remember:

· If the driver claims that your destination is closed, doesn’t know where it is, or tries to take you elsewhere, just get out of the taxi

  • All taxis are now metered
  • The flag fall fare is 35 THB

· Most trips within downtown cost less than 100 baht

· Except from the airport there are no surcharges - even at night; don’t believe drivers who try to tell you otherwise

· A lit red sign on the front window means the taxi is available

· Many drivers will "forget" to start the meter in order to overcharge you

· Most will start the meter when asked politely to do so

· If the driver refuses to use the meter after a couple of attempts, simply exit the taxi

· Be sure to either know the correct pronunciation of your destination, or have it written in Thai, as most drivers speak little English

  • Be sure to have small bills (100 THB or less)
